Over the last two weeks we have been learning about the Sioux American Indians. For homework we did some excellent research on Sioux Indian dress, food, houses, names and jewellery.
For our art lesson last week we made some lovely dream catchers. They were more difficult than we thought they would be!!
This week we made tee-pees. We were very lucky that we have a scout in our class who taught us how to make a tripod to hold our three sticks together. After that it was up to us to think how we were going to attach our material to the outside of our teepee. Some of us were very creative and our ideas included draping the material over the sticks and then stitching it in place, using wool to tie the material down and even using plasticine to stick the material to the sticks! We soon discovered that this was also an exercise in working together as we often needed a second pair of hands.
Despite some frustrating moments, we really enjoyed the activity and were very proud of our final creations.
